• Diced avocado salad with green onions and pepper in a glass bowl.

    Avacado Salad

What You Need to Make it:

    • 2.5 lbs avocados, about 7 medium

    • 1/2 cup green onion

    • 2 tbsp lemon juice

    • 1/2 tsp salt

    • Ground black pepper, to taste

What Now. . .To cut avocados, cut each fruit in half and remove the pit.

Then cut each half into 2-3 strips (depends how wide), peel and slice. This way avocado slices do not turn into a mush.

In a large salad bowl, add avocados, green onion, lemon juice, salt and pepper.

Stir gently with a wooden spoon and consume within next 5-6 hours. Great on its own, on a toast.

Benefits of Avocado on Skin and Hair

Avocados are not only a delicious fruit but also a powerhouse of nutrients that provide numerous benefits for skin and hair health.

    Benefits for Skin

Moisturizer: Avocados are high in healthy fats, particularly monounsaturated fatty acids, which help to hydrate the skin. This is essential for maintaining skin elasticity and preventing dryness.

Nutrient-Rich: They contain vitamins E and C, both known for their antioxidant properties. Vitamin E helps protect the skin from oxidative stress while vitamin C is crucial for collagen production, promoting skin firmness and reducing wrinkles.

Anti-Inflammatory Properties: The antioxidants in avocados can help soothe inflammation and redness associated with conditions like acne or eczema.

Improved Elasticity: Regular consumption of avocados could enhance skin elasticity and firmness due to their nutrient profile. This suggests that both topical application and dietary inclusion can be beneficial.

    Benefits for Hair

Deep Conditioning: Avocado oil is an excellent natural conditioner due to its high content of fatty acids. It penetrates the hair shaft effectively, providing moisture and reducing frizz.

Strengthening Properties: The proteins, vitamins (especially B vitamins), and minerals found in avocados help strengthen hair strands, making them less prone to breakage. Regular use can lead to healthier-looking hair.

Scalp Health: Applying avocado oil or masks can improve scalp health by moisturizing dry areas and reducing dandruff through its anti-inflammatory properties. A healthy scalp is crucial for optimal hair growth.

Promotes Hair Growth: Nutrients such as biotin present in avocados are known to support hair growth by improving overall scalp health and nourishing hair follicles.

Natural Protection: Avocado oil acts as a natural sunscreen for hair, protecting it from UV damage when exposed to sunlight. This protective quality helps maintain color-treated or styled hair.

  • Two glass bowls filled with chocolate avocado pudding next to a halved avocado on a wooden surface, with two silver spoons nearby.

    Avocado Chocolate Mousse

    Ingredients

    • flesh of 2 ripe avocados (240g)

    • 1/4 cup regular cocoa powder

    • 1/4 cup dutch cocoa OR melted chocolate chips

    • 3-4 tbsp milk of choice

    • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract

    • 1/8 tsp salt

    • sweetener of choice to taste (Agave)

There are two ways to accomplish this recipe: The version with the chocolate chips will be richer; the version with the dutch cocoa (important to use dutch) will be lower in fat and sugar. Combine all ingredients in a blender or food processor until completely smooth. I used 3 tbsp oat milk or coconut milk.

You can add a garnish of your choice. These are a quick and easy dessert with all natural ingredients.

    Enjoy!
